Sailing along the Nile at Aswan, inkjet pigment lift on Egyptian papyrus

Details

"Sailing along the Nile at Aswan" is an inkjet pigment lift transferred to Egyptian papyrus. The photograph was taken by me in 2021.

I get my Papyrus directly from the manufacturer in Egypt. The plant is grown in the Nile delta region of the country. Once harvested, it is cut into thin strips, pressed and dried to form a paper-like surface for writing and illustration.

The photograph was printed onto transfer film and lifted with Dass Art™ "Supersauce". This method allowed me to extract the inked portions of the print (i.e. the skin) and transfer it to papyrus. The "skin" is extremely thin and delicate, more so than a Polaroid™ emulsion. I absolutely love this process because I can manipulate the print by folding and wrinkling it thus giving it a fabric-like quality.

Print is sold without a frame. It measures 13" x 17". I recommend a shadow box when framing, but this is just my personal taste.

I use rare-earth magnets (not included) to hang the print (unframed) in this photo.
