Seeing Amenhotep, a collage of Polaroid™ emulsion lifts on dark Egyptian papyrus

$40.00

Details

"Seeing Amenhotep" is a collage of two Polaroid™ images lifted and transferred to Egyptian papyrus. The photographs was taken by me in 2021.

I get my Papyrus directly from the manufacturer in Egypt. The plant is grown in the Nile delta region of the country. Once harvested, it is cut into thin strips, pressed and dried to form a paper-like surface for writing and illustration. Dark papyrus is made by soaking the pith in water for a longer amount of time than the light variety.

Each photograph was converted to a Polaroid™ image using the Polaroid lab process. It was then transferred to the papyrus using known emulsion lift methods.

Print is sold without a frame. It measures 7" x 9 1/4". I recommend a shadow box when framing, but this is just my personal taste.

I use rare-earth magnets (not included) to hang the print (unframed) in this photo.
